Ministries in Alphabetical Order

Alcolytes
Junior acolytes assist our worship at Sunday Masses, holy days, and other sacramental celebrations. Two junior acolytes and one senior acolyte are assigned to each liturgy.

Arise Worship Ministry (Holy Spirit/Charismatic Ministry)
Learn how to begin operating in the Pauline Charisms of healing, prophecy, discernment of spirits, and more. Combining Church teaching with practical exercises and proven safeguards, Arise Ministry equips the faithful to begin stepping out in the supernatural gifts. The curriculum, Holy Spirit 101, has been critically studied and was granted the “Nihil Obstat” and “Imprimatur”.

Adoration
Sign up to spend an hour with Jesus in our Adoration Chapel.

Alpha
Help members of our community explore the Catholic faith as they are brought together for worship, dinner, and conversation. This 10-week program requires lots of help from volunteer cooks, table leads, hospitality, and more.

Catholic Book Club
We meet once per month to discuss books by Catholic authors. Contact Renee Mitchell: Catholicbookclub@popplano.org

Children’s Liturgy of the Word
We celebrate Liturgy of the Word with Children once a month, generally on the first weekend of the month.

Coffee and Donuts
Serves coffee and donuts after the 8AM and 10AM Masses most weeks.

Empty Nesters
For married couples whose children have finished high school. The group usually meets on the third Saturday of each month. Activities include dinners, theater, and outreach project

Adore the Blessed Sacrament

Exalt Young Adults
Ministry for adults 18-35 years.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Primarily, Ministers of Holy Communion share the Body and Blood of Christ with the assembly at all Eucharistic celebrations in our parish.

Financial Freedom Ministry
We all need a plan for our money. Our Financial Freedom Ministry uses the teachings of Financial Peace University. It teaches God’s ways of handling money. Through video teaching, class discussions, and interactive small group activities, FPU presents biblical, practical steps to get from where you are to where you’ve dreamed you could be. This plan will show you how to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and save wisely, and much more.

Food Pantry
We collect and donate food items to those most in need.

Giving Tree
Located in the Atrium year-round, tags request various needs ranging from simple and inexpensive to more costly items and requests for volunteer assistance. 

Hearts Afire Parish Program (HAPP)
The Heats Afire Parish-Based Program (HAPP) is small group, parish-based, faith formation and renewal ministry. It is designed to help us live the complete Catholic life of faith, charity, and the sacraments. It's designed to set our hearts on fire with love of God and neighbor and to inspire us to works of mercy in our families, parishes, and communities. 

Honor our Heroes
The Honor Our Heroes Committee at Prince of Peace Catholic Community is dedicated to serving those who have answered the call to duty to ensure the citizens of our nation can live their lives and raise their children in freedom and peace. We honor their commitment and courage. We find ways to show appreciation to all members of the Armed Forces, past and present. We strive to maintain awareness of their needs and pray for those actively serving around the world and for their families

Hope for Honduras
Help support our sister parish by participating in our annual fundraising campaign.

Hospital Ministry
People in this ministry bring the Eucharist to the sick at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano. Hospital visits require a commitment of two hours per month. Before beginning this ministry, volunteers must attend the Presbyterian Hospital Orientation.

“It’s Not About Me” Men’s Group
This weekly gathering on Thursday mornings from 6:30 am – 8:00 am provides a safe, confidential and welcoming atmosphere where Christian men striving for holiness can become better versions of themselves by helping others to become better versions of themselves through the grace, love, mercy and forgiveness of Our Lord Jesus Christ. All are welcome.

Journey with Joseph - 33 Day Consecration
Join us as we “Journey with Joseph” using Fr. Donald Calloway’s 33 day consecration. The consecration will focus on how St. Joseph can assist us in overcoming the challenges of modern culture, such as threats to faith, family life, practicing virtue, and fulfilling our mission. The consecration will be prayed individually but supplemented by daily videos to keep you on track and help you dive deeper into the riches of St. Joseph’s spiritual fatherhood.

Kids Helping Kids
The mission of Kids Helping Kids program strives to be a faithful community in which the children understand the importance of giving back. We encourage our children to be stewards of our world through the gift of sharing and helping those in need

Knights of Columbus
At Prince of Peace, the Knights of Columbus serve our community in several different ways such as: Parish wide special events (Monthly Knights Breakfast, Lenten Fish Dinners, Anniversary luncheons and Dinners, etc), Lead PoP services and support (Knights Responders, Wheelchair Mission, Hike for Life, etc), Support to adopted charities (Easter Egg Hunt, Special Olympics, etc), Fundraising for special causes, Faith events, and also Fraternal Events for members.

Marian Group
This a Bible Study with a definitive focus on The Blessed Virgin Mary.

Mass Greeters
Mass Greeters greet everyone as they come to Mass and offer information to all guests and new members.

Men's Fellowship Group
This weekly gathering on Saturday mornings from 6:45 am - 8:45 am provides a safe place for Godly men to share in their faith and fellowship. Newcomers are always welcome!

Music Ministry
There are many opportunities to participate more deeply in the musical life of the Parish, and we invite you to learn more about how you can get involved in the Prince of Peace music ministry!

Nursery
The Prince of Peace Nursery serves children ages 12 months - 5 years during the Sunday, 10AM Mass and is open during pre-scheduled weekday events.

Our Lady of Silence
We have been at POP over 20 years, and as a ministry we provide interpreting of the Masses for the Deaf in the area or those visiting the area. We also interpret formation classes or meetings, work shops, special presentations if Deaf people express a desire to attend.

Outreach Ministry

Pastoral Advisory Council
The Parish Advisory Council is an elected and appointed volunteer council that works to support the leadership of Prince of Peace Catholic Community in reaching their vision for the Parish.

Pathfinders
The Prince of Peace Pathfinders is a parish-wide effort to involve individuals, families and groups of all ages in hands-on volunteer activities with various organizations, including food banks, ecumenical ministries for the poor and homeless, Catholic Charities and the Catholic Diocese, Habitat for Humanity and other area agencies. We also offer minor repairs and lawn maintenance and run errands for those who need help within our own community. Our mission is to grow servant hearts and friendships by praying, studying Scripture and keeping our hands busy through service as we find our path in the footsteps of Christ.

POP Moms
All moms or expectant moms of the parish and/or school are welcome to join the Prince of Peace Moms Group! We offer activities such as Moms Night Out and small groups - as well as special children's events like Trunk or Treat, Breakfast with Santa, and family rosary.

POP Prayer Ministry
Our Prayer Ministry is a group of individuals who regularly gathers to pray for the intentions and needs of our parish. Once a month the group hosts a Healing Mass with anointing of the sick and prayer teams for the whole parish.

POP Summer Camp
The summer program is open to all school aged children that are ages 5-12 years by the first day of camp or entering kindergarten through sixth/seventh grade (or 12 years of age) for the 2022-23 school year. Prince of Peace Catholic Community Summer Program provides the children an enriching and Christian environment through activities which will invoke imagination, creativity, and excitement in your child.

Primetimers
Everyone who is over 55 years of age is invited to be a part of the Primetimers. Membership is open to couples and singles. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month beginning in September and continuing through June. The meetings are held in St. Katharine's Hall from 10:30am-noon followed by lunch. Lunch can be a catered event such as the Christmas party, the bingo and pizza party, or it can be potluck. Occasionally lunch is at a local restaurant. Many guest speakers give interesting and informative presentations at the meetings throughout the year on a variety of topics. The group participates in other social events each month, such as a dinner, picnic or musical performance. The group also participates in outreach projects and in many of the activities that the Prince of Peace Community holds throughout the year. We look forward to seeing you on the first Thursday!

Pursue Marriage Ministry
Pursue is an umbrella term for all of our initiatives for married couples. As married couples, we are pursuing holiness, a relationship with God, through our marriages.

Respect Life
Prince of Peace Respect Life Ministry is under the direction of the Diocese of Dallas. Our parish ministry works to assist the Catholic Pro-Life Community (CPLC) under Bishop Burns to educate and promote the dignity and the sacredness of human life within our parish.

Sacristans
Sacristans provide altar care, altar linen care, Eucharistic Chapel care, setup for Ministers of Holy Communion, setup for holy days, and assistance to the Director of Worship.

Senior Living Ministry
The Senior Living Ministry supports Catholics in the various senior living facilities within our parish boundaries- Life Care Center, Colonial Lodge, Edenbrook, Silverado, Sunrise Living Center, Legacy at Willow Bend and Collin Oaks. Activities include one-on-one visits with the Catholic residents, bringing them the Eucharist each week.

Sister Parish
Building a family relationship uniting Prince of Peace Catholic Community and Nuestra Senora de las Mercedes of Progreso, Honduras, based upon our common faith, mutual love, interdependence and solidarity.

St. Vincent de Paul
Serving our local Plano brothers and sisters, the mission of St. Vincent de Paul is to provide financial, material, and emotional support for those in crisis. The St. Vincent de Paul Ministry is the truest form of the commandment, “Love thy neighbor.” All of our finances come from donations from members of our parish. The way we see it, we’re simply offering our neighbors a helping hand.

Ushers
Ushers are assigned to a team that serves at a particular Mass every other week. We are always in need of additional ushers and welcome anyone 13 years and older to serve.

Young Church
Ministry for youth in 6th-12th grade

Your Brothers in Christ
These men host a weekly Christian study opportunity on Friday mornings from 5:45 A.M. - 7 A.M. They have a light breakfast, watch 30 minutes of video, and then discuss the topic in small groups. The subject matter varies throughout the year and they use very engaging programs.
