Frequently Asked Questions

IS this a book or a program?

Holy Spirit 101 is a curriculum program that individuals, small groups and Parishes can use to better understand the Church's teachings on the charismatic gifts as well as learn guidelines and practical exercises to encourage persons to begin operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

An invaluable resource for pastors and prayer leaders, the program can be read as a book; however, we believe it is best experienced when taught in the classroom or retreat setting.

How did the ministry begin?

The ministry began at New York's Dunwoody Seminary, where founder, Victoria Harris, asked a group of scholars, clergy and Church leaders, "What if we could prototype a course, where one could teach Catholics, in a classroom setting, how to use, operate and mature in the gifts of the Holy Spirit?"

Father Michael Forge, of the Diocese of Dallas, generously invited Harris to Mary Immaculate Church in Farmers Branch, Texas, and permitted Harris to research and prototype the curriculum, while under the supervision of the Diocese. Harris began assimilating the collective teachings of the Church on the charismatic dimension of the faith and "practicums" (exercises) were developed as practical tools which would allow an individual to practice specific gifts. In August of that year, Harris was permitted to test the efficacy of the program on a group of 40 students from various backgrounds and experiences with the Holy Spirit - and the results were astonishing. By the end of the 5-week program, nearly every student was operating, to some degree, in the supernatural gifts. These same dramatic results have continued in each class that has followed the guidelines set forth in the program.

On February 16, 2016 the text received from the Catholic Church the highest approval and endorsement available to a curriculum: The nihil obstat (meaning the work is "without error") and the imprimatur (an endorsement from the bishop declaring "Let it be printed").

From 2016 - 2023 the ministry operated its headquarters in Farmers Branch, TX at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church. In June of 2023 the ministry officially moved its headquarters to Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Plano, TX.
