The sacrament of Confirmation is one of the initiation sacraments connected to both the sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist (Holy Communion).
The reception of Confirmation is required in order for initiation into the Catholic faith to be complete. Confirmation ratifies our Baptism, roots us more deeply in love, unites us closer to Christ, increases in us gifts of the Spirit and binds us more tightly to the Church.
In Confirmation, we receive a special strength to live our faith more fully and witness to what we believe as disciples of Jesus Christ.
YOUTH CONFIRMATION
The Sacrament of Confirmation is available to all 8th grade youth, and those who are older who have not yet been confirmed. All Confirmation candidates must be enrolled in our parish and registered in Prince of Peace Youth Ministry or in Prince of Peace Catholic School. They are to be fully active and participating regularly in youth ministry the full year prior to Confirmation. The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in the winter of each year. Confirmation candidates are encouraged to attend the Confirmation Retreat and complete all items outlined in the Confirmation Pathway created by Prince of Peace. This will ensure that youth are ready to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and that youth, parents and sponsors are equipped to continue to live as disciples of Jesus Christ beyond this sacrament of initiation.
Adult Confirmation
Prince of Peace Catholic Community offers a special opportunity for members of our community who may have been baptized Catholic and not been confirmed, as well as those or baptized in another denomination, who have been regularly attending Mass, and who may be interested in becoming Catholic. The Catholic Church warmly welcomes everyone and will provide appropriate spiritual formation to meet each person's needs. The ultimate goal of our process is to integrate the newly initiated into our vibrant faith community and help each person live a life of love and service to others, founded on the ever-deepening relationship and love of Christ and His Church.
