Jesus taught his followers:

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me and I in them, will bear much fruit ... This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

Our theme is the symbol of the vine and the branches – given to us by Jesus himself. He was speaking to people who were close to the land. They knew that, for a strong vine, a vigorous young cutting must be grafted on a trusted root stock where it would grow and bear fruit. We have been grafted onto Christ by our Baptism. Now we must check to see if the graft has taken hold and the branch is bearing fruit.
Prince of Peace offers many opportunities for us to deepen the graft that binds us to Jesus. If you are not already involved in one or more of our ministries, we urge you, during Discipleship Month, to consider becoming a fruit-bearing branch on the vine. We are called to build the Kingdom of God together with Christ.
