Mission Statement of the Pastoral Council
In keeping with the collegial model of Church encouraged by the Second Vatican Council, the Pastoral Council of Prince of Peace Catholic Community exercises a ministry of leadership by advising the pastor on issues pertaining to the vision and development of the Community. Through prayer, study and attentiveness to the life of the parish, the Council assists the pastor by identifying significant concerns and by developing workable strategies to address these concerns.

The Pastoral Council is an advisory board for our pastor, Rev. Msg. R. James Balint. The Council is composed of Fr. Jim, Fr. Roberto, the Assistant to the Pastor, 10 at-large members chosen for three-year terms and five ex-officio members who represent Finance, Facilities, Liturgy, School Advisory, and Stewardship Committees. Three new at large members are elected each year in September. If you are interested, please contact one of the Council members.
In its advisory role, the Council gives Fr. Jim advice on both immediate issues facing the Prince of Peace Catholic Community and longer term strategic planning. We meet on the second Monday of every month, and the meetings are open to non-Council members. If you wish to address the Council, please contact any one of the officers or Bob Boese, Assistant to the Pastor, at least 2 weeks before the meeting date so the topic can be added to the agenda.
One of the major focuses of the Council is the execution of the Pastoral Plan. It is the Council’s responsibility to evaluate the progress that the Prince of Peace Catholic Community is making in the execution of the Plan. We also face issues of transforming from the high growth stage of a new Community and into the adolescent stage of an established community, along with the changing needs of the Community as demographics shift. Further, we are interested in serving the needs of more members of the Community by getting more involvement from active and inactive members and reaching out beyond our registered members.
We look forward to serving the Community in this exciting and challenging year and to the positive effects that the new Pastoral Plan will bring.
